Protecting the Heart of Your Diagnostic & Treatment Capabilities

As a healthcare provider in India, your medical equipment is not just machinery; it is the backbone of your healthcare delivery services. From high-end MRI machines to critical life-support systems, your investment in technology directly impacts patient care and your facility's reputation.

However, these sophisticated devices are sensitive. Voltage fluctuations, accidental damage, or sudden breakdowns can bring your operations to a halt, leading to massive repair costs and lost revenue.

Electronic Equipment Insurance (EEI) provides the financial safety net you need to ensure that when your machines stop, your practice doesn't.

Why Do You Need Electronic Equipment Insurance (EEI)?

In the Indian healthcare landscape, the risks are real and frequent. Standard property insurance often falls short when covering delicate electronic circuitry. EEI is an "All Risk" policy designed specifically for electronic devices.

  1. High Replacement Costs: Most medical equipment is imported. A simple part replacement can cost lakhs due to currency exchange rates and customs duties.
  2. Power Quality Issues: Despite stabilizers, sudden voltage spikes and short circuits remain a leading cause of PCB and motherboard failures in India.
  3. Operator Error: Even the most trained staff can make mistakes during the hustle of a busy hospital environment.

What We Cover

Our policy protects your equipment against a wide range of unforeseen and sudden physical losses or damages.

Physical Damage
  1. Accidental Damage: Handling losses, dropping of equipment, or impact damage.
  2. Electrical Breakdowns: Short circuits, arcing, and over-voltage (even if you have a warranty, external causes are often excluded by manufacturers).
  3. Fire & Natural Calamities: Fire, lightning, floods, storms, and earthquakes.
  4. Theft & Burglary: Coverage against theft of expensive portable devices or fixed machinery.
External Data Media (Optional Add-on)

Coverage for the restoration of data lost due to damage to the storage medium (e.g., loss of patient records due to server damage).

Increased Cost of Working (Optional Add-on)

If Your CT Scanner or MRI is down, you may need to rent alternative equipment or outsource scans to keep your patients happy. This add-on covers those extra hiring costs.

Understanding Your Coverage

Get a clear overview of what your policy includes and how it protects you.

How is the Sum Insured Calculated?

Crucial Note: In Electronic Equipment Insurance, the Sum Insured must always be the Replacement Value (New for Old), not the Depreciated Value.

This includes:

  1. Current market price of a new machine of the same specifications.
  2. Customs Duty & Taxes.
  3. Freight and Installation charges.

If you under-insure (insure for less than the replacement value), the claim amount will be reduced proportionately.

What is NOT Covered? (Standard Exclusions)

To ensure transparency, here is what is generally excluded:

  1. Current market price of a new machine of the same specifications.
  2. Consumables: Bulbs, valves, tubes, ribbons, fuses, belts, etc.
  3. Wilful Negligence: Intentional damage by the insured or their representatives.
  4. Manufacturer’s Defects: Damages covered under existing Warranty or AMC.
  5. War & Nuclear Perils.

Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance

Simple answers to the most common insurance queries.

No. EEI policies require you to insure for the Replacement Value (cost of a brand new machine). If you insure for the depreciated value, your claim will be reduced significantly due to the "Average Clause.

Generally, tubes and valves are considered consumables and have limited life. However, we can structure policies that offer depreciated coverage for tubes depending on their usage hours.

Yes. An AMC usually covers mechanical breakdowns and maintenance. It typically does not cover fire, theft, flood, earthquake, or accidental physical damage (like dropping a probe). Insurance completes your protection.
